SKIRON Skiron (or Skeiron) a Greek divinity of the North-West wind. Its name is linked to Skirophorion, the last of the three months of spring in the Attic calendar of festivities. Depicted as a bearded man tipping a cauldron, he represents the beginning of winter. The Umberto Veronesi Foundation: The Umberto Veronesi Foundation was set up in 2003 to support scientific research by giving research grants for doctors and researchers, and to assist high profile projects. Science for Peace: 'Science for Peace' is a project which, to achieve its objective, interacts with the educational world, with research organizations ? both public and private ? and with the world of information. Science for Peace was established on the initiative of Umberto Veronesi foundation to propose and carry out scientific solutions for peace. The appeal has been endorsed by at least 21 Nobel prize-winners, as well as by scientists from throughout the world and leading international personalities. The Science for Peace? project seeks to help in achieving two major objectives: to spreading a culture of peace and resolving tensions between states, and to gradually reducing nuclear weapons and military spending in favour of greater investments in research and development.
