Deceptively simple, this skirt is greater than the sum of its parts. The carefully planned seams create a shape that lengthens and elongates the figure; it tapers gracefully, then ends in a slight, flirty kick pleat. When I looked in the mirror, I thought "Lauren Bacall", which is somewhat of a miracle, given that I am 5'1", with legs so short it is surprising that they touch the ground!
Like Ms. Bacall, I have reached an age where certain styles should not be worn even if they fit; low-rise jeans and tight pencil skirts are an embarrassment. (If you do not believe me, ask my 20 yr. old daughter!)Nanette Lapore's clothing loves a woman's body. This skirt compliments your curves without trying to squeeze them into submission. There is also an elastic waistband, which adds to the comfort level; I am so beyond suffering for beauty!
I took off one star, because I feel the skirt should be lined; you can see thru it in most lighting. I wiil need to add a slip or chemise and I would rather the manufacturer have paid attention to this detail.
Bottom line: I am happy with my purchase; this skirt represents the type of wardrobe I am trying to build: pieces that look good and make me feel good about this stage of my life. It is elegant and provocative AND my daughter likes it as much as I do!
I think of a wide range of women will find this skirt flattering.
