Estimated market value $35,000 Provenance: Commissioned by Cortney and Robert Novogratz for Babakul (located in Fred Segal, Santa Monica) Carrington delivers a splendid illustration of Debbie Harry, lead singer of the new wave band Blondie. In similar ways to Andy Warhol's close polaroid shots of the singer taken in 1980, Harry appears seductive and hypnotic by her gaze and appeal to the viewer. This piece was commissioned for the opening of Babakul in Fred Segal, Santa Monica. It is entirely composed of white buttons sewn on black twill. This medium suggests a wonderful texture and enhances the dimensionality of the composition.
